Its been a year since I updated this. Work, and more work have been keeping me busy. Car, My jeep. Now I am getting ready for RoboGames again this year with KnuckleBuster.
April 25, 2005
I was at RoboGames, Good showing for the NERC. REPRESENT. We had bots in the top 5 in 12's, 30's, and SHW's. I was able to pick up 4th with KnuckleBuster. Not many event pics but check them out here.
Before this, was Motorama. REALLY bad showing for ForkBot and Knuckle buster. Forkbot forfitted due to never being finished. KB had one forfit and then a pounding by Helious. Check out the vid here.
Speaking of Video. I have a new link page to video of my bots in action. here
Next stop, Possibly UConn and then POP 9?
Long time no update. I have been doing a ton of work on the Buick.
Robot report, a new 30 is being built for POP8 in NH. So far it is actually going well. With any luck, I will have a finished 100% robot at this event. Unlike Motorama where i just did not have anything done in time. Getting ready for PoP8
Hon2 was great fun. It was finally just an old school brawl with some good friends. I have yet to have as good an event with Forkbot with the way the bots in this class have evolved, since the first HSRC. I had it out with Al K with Tyrant and John P with Dizzy Dragon.
Minimax was not finished, and neither was M.S.T. but Forkbot made it and did well. 3-2
Getting ready for HON 2003. Forkbot, Minimax and hopefully the new 3lber M.S.T. will be able to show there stuff.
I decided to use some webspace to put together an online
Motorama was a great event. Only brought one bot. 30 pound THING. It did really well with the modifications I did. Only flaw i found was the battery source for the weapon was inadequate. I need some good sub-C cells and a little more work on a good weapon disk. More pics will be coming shortly. THING won 4 and placed 4th in the bracket loseing to rival Helios and Sunflower.
Been spending allot of time getting Thing ready for Motorama. Almost done. 2 weeks away and things are looking good. I think I finally solved the belt problem, and the double timed EV is working great.
It has been some time, but I started work on THING again to get it ready for the Motorama event. I also started work on a new lightweight "IT"
LTRC
To start off, The bot known as RimTinTin is now officially retired. The Lazy Toad Ranch is its final resting spot. May it rust in piece. Must have been the BEST event to date. I had an amazing time and the bots performed well. Not to give away too much, but RTT won 2 fights out 4. Thing did not place, but the new design show some serious potential. Won 2. Forkbot I had some SERIOUS hopes for, but it just did not perform as well. Too slow. Minimax also I had hopes for, but somehow had problems. Burned a motor out before its first fight.
HON
House of NERC was a great fight. I had to leave early, but otherwise it was a great time. Minimax at its first fight took 3rd, and Forkbot, version5 did well. The arena floor was a bit bumpy and getting high centered happened a bit, but otherwise it performed well. The wheels stayed on. Minimax showed potential, but a large flaw in the Tamiya duel gearbox.
HSRC02
Fort Washington NJ. A return to the Ft. Washington Expo center with our large 16x16 arena. This time with a steel floor. Granted the floor was a little, bowed, but Thing was able to take 3rd, but not after some intense fights. Forkbot got another beating by a new TI spinner, Deadly Donkey. But was able to take a win over Short Order. This fight I have wanted for a wile.
IXHSRC
Rosemont Ill, NERC was present at the largest hobby show with our new 16x16 arena. Thing took 2nd at its first appearance, and Forkbot got clobbered by Minimauler at its first fight. Created by Team Toad.
Added some more pics of the new Fork Bot, and the start of the new THING. Also added a vapor page of, at this point, 3d image of Gammadion. A middle weight version of the robot Gammacide, brought to you by Curt, and Mike of the Gammatronic Robotic Brigade! Undecided of the name and if I can afford to ship this bot there and register it. Actual pics of the parts and what not coming eventually.
UPDATE!!
I just did some work on Thing's page
and Fork Bot's Page. Also added Equinox and
some of Rim Tin Ton. More pics comming. THEN I will try to update
the news. A lot to type. Been too long since updated
A.R.C. (Albany Robotics Club)
August 18th, the trip to Albany for the 3rd edition of the North East Combat Clubs. ForkBot has been transformed to ForkBite and Minimax is still not going to make it.
After A.R.C., the east coast moves up a weight bracket introducing 30 pound bots of destruction! That will take place at the international hobby expo in Chicago the weekend of September 8th thanks to help from Dan D with Team Delta, the E.C.R.A, and others. The new 16x16 N.E.R.C arena will be put to its tests. Pics of ForkBite and the new 30 pound "THING" are posted on the build page.
San Francisco - May 23 - 30, 2001
All I can say now is that the FOOD was slop and my hotel was in a demilitarized zone. Words of advice, RED SQUARE IS BAD, and IF IT WORKS, DONT MESS WITH IT! The fight will air July 31!
March 24, 2001
Getting ready for battle are ForkBot, 12 pounder and MiniMax. 1 pounder. Sad to say Minimax dies on the work bench before the event. Saturday, March 24th at the Hobby Show Robotic Conflict in Philadelphia, Fork Bot has his first fight! Fork Bot gains second place in the Soccer event only loosing to Tyrant. In combat, Facing 911, ForkBot takes serious damage to the front wheels and main gear on the lifter bar. The chain falls off and is unable to get a hold of 911. ForkBot is pinned against the wall as 911 dices his way in. The fight is called. The second loss comes during the fight against Tyrant. The Bot that WILL NOT DIE! Tyrants strong pushing power tosses Fork Bot around. A wheel falls off and the fight is called to save vital components!
Las Vegas - November 2000
Rim Tin Tin makes its first appearance, and has its first fight! RimTinTin loses his fight against the octagon shaped Rampage! The front plow on RimTinTin was of a thin steel. Bending on impact against the slot of the arena saw's lifted the wheels off the ground. Unable to move, RimTinTin was counted out! As RimTinTin was being counted out, Rampage moves to finish the job, and bends his cutting disk on the side of RimTinTin armor, seizing up his motor, and frying his electrical system. By that time it was too late and RimTinTin loses his first fight! During the rumble, more flaw's on RimTinTin design comes to bare, but makes it to be one of the few still running at the end! Redesigns are in order!
