THING: Three High Inertia Nasty Gashers

Created from parts lying around, Thing was to be just a big one hit wonder bot.  Just something to compete with at the NERC first 30 pound competition.

Thing Version 2.1

One flaw was that the weapon mount was too lose. The amount of play caused the belt to come lose after almost every other hit.

UHMW block to make the one piece weapon mount.

Still more holes to drill.

Done

Now I want to gain more weight for some TI armor. When it stops snowing, I will see if the new mount

holds.

Thing Version 2.0

Single EV drive for the weapon.  Need weight for more armor. Getting evil out there!

New AL disks   14 3/8 x 3/8 thick. 6 pounds each.  Final weight should be around 7 pounds.

I tilted the disk back as far as I could.  Hope it works.

This version proved its worth at LTRC, but showed some flaws that need work.

Version 1.1

The new Death disk!  For HSRC2002!

I ran the disk at 24v, added some 1/4 armor in the back, and changed the blasts for Roosters!

Thing Version 1

I Figured since this being my first spinner, I would not run the weapon motors at 24. 12 was good enough.

Due to the weight, even all the holes i drilled it still did not make weight!

The drive motor. 6v Sears drill motors. Very nice at 7.2v. Blast, speed

controllers worked very well.  I did not like the reverse delay.

READY FOR CHICAGO!
